Welcome rain

Rain is big news here in Az.
We are getting as much rain this week as we got all of last year.
We only got 3.26 inches of rain in 2009.
A zone that gets under 10 inches of rainfall a year is considered a desert.
We have been well short of that in recent years.
PHOENIX - Sky Harbor Airport will end up with a five inch rainfall deficit for 2009. The total rain in the official bucket checks in at 3.26”, the 7th driest year on record for Phoenix. Our records go back to 1895.
So welcome rain.
We need this.
Our plants and wildlife need this.
It is a blessing.

  3. I love rain too. I'm a January girl, a winter girl, although now the cold tends to rub my knees in the wrong way. Enjoy the rain and someone mentioned wildflowers, I love wildflowers. I just threw some seeds out in back a couple of Sunday's ago. Take care and have a great Friday.

  4. I'm so glad for you, gemma... although we're getting a little *too* much rain here, it is always good to be reminded that it is a blessing to receive. :)

  5. Enjoy, Gemma. My favorite time of living in Tucson so many years ago was when the monsoon season came through.

  10. I am so glad you got the rain and not the tornadoes and floods that they were predicting. They were predicting a 10-20 inch snowstorm for us this weekend. What a joke - we got 41/2 of gentle snow on Friday, nothing since.

Anyway, I hope you get out to the desert to see it bloom now.
