photo safari in the hood

The goal for a Pedometer challenge at work is at least 10,000 steps a day.
That's 5 miles. So far so good. One day I walked over 13,000 steps.
Wearing the pedometer makes me want to pick it up a bit.
If I haven't reached my goal during the day, after work I go for a walk in the neighborhood.

I like this old casa. When you drive by you don't notice it much.
Walking by you can see a lot of details.

There is charm, character, cacti and unusual plants growing everywhere. I am drawn to the colors and patina of this home.
Makes for an interesting few thousand steps.
How many steps do you walk in a day?

  2. Not as many now, as I used to...I need to get back into that. Bella casa - it would make a great subject for a painting, I think!

  4. Oh wow Gemma! I love that casa. I could live there. I always wanted a home that looked like that.I think when my hubby builds the studio in back, I'm going to have him tile the roof like that. Oh brother that's. Thanks a lot for sharing this casa. How many steps do I walk? I'll tell what, a few years back I used my pedometer and was walking 3 miles a day and because of you, I am going to start using it again, thank you very much.:D Have a great day tomorrow. Your wildman doesn't work in the yard? Did he get laid off? I'm sorry if he did.

  5. Walking is so great! What a great house you've showcased!

My I ask what kind of pedometer you have ... I've had several, but don't seem to work well or last long!

  7. I know I don't walk as many steps as you! I do have a pedometer and when I remember to wear it I always seem to walk more than usual....but I usually forget to put it on! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

  8. I love that place too. Just so heart warming. The yellow with wine, the multi-colored fence that looks like it's recycled. The cacti and whatever that wonderful tree is.

I don't know how much I walk. The days I do treadmill that adds 2 miles. I tend to bounce around at work a lot, and that's good.

  10. I've been trying to work out what colors to paint the house (when the time comes) and that's a nice combination. Glad to see your getting exercise, I'm working on the walking myself.

  12. Our health care provider came to our workplace and gave us all pedometers, but they were cheap and mine didn't work.

Maybe when all the ice and snow melt off the sidewalks.

  17. My hat's off to you, Gemma. I've been walking more recently, but I have no idea how many steps. A pedometer is a good idea. I'm trying on a new lifestyle and it's working - perhaps slowly, but working all the same. I think walking is the best exercise - for me at least.

I enjoy it when people post photos of their region or town or neighborhood. I always find it interesting to see little details in a particular part of the country/world. Very nice.

  18. Gorgeous casa and great photos. The butter and bordeaux together look yummy! And of course those cacti look so exotic to my eye. :)

I've thought about getting a pedometer to track myself, but I know I'm notorious about not being able to stick to numerical goals. Anything where I have to mark off a number or keep a running tally tends to fall by the wayside after a while. So I don't know how many steps I take, but I know that I'll walk more if it's in a beautiful setting, like the Botanical Gardens or by the nearby lake. :)
