lighting candles

There is something so sacred about lighting candles.
It is a ceremony that connects me to the ancient ones.

~Being in the moment when the flame and wick ignite, invites meditation.
~Thoughts and intentions are usually gentle while candles are being lit.
~The soft glow of candlelight brings peace with it.
~A prayer of gratitude stays with me in those moments.

Everything looks pretty in soft light.....

  7. I agree, you know how they have these candle warmers now days, I always think they are missing the point, its the light that is important not the scent. I like the image too,

  12. I light a candle just about every day. I have a place outside my back door where I have pictures of family now gone and there are candles, many of which I light and sit there for a quiet moment. I feel at peace when I do that. Thanks Gemma for such peaceful thoughts.

  14. Sending you light and hugs, Gemma! A long time volunteer for our MISS group and online friend was killed this week. So many in our everyday lives have minimized the friendships and grief as "just virtual." So I'm making an effort to get around to all my blog friends who continually share heART and life with me and tell you that you are so NOT virtual to me. Thank you for being here...these candles meant so much to me on the day you posted in particular. We'll be down in Tempe in person in September for a conference...maybe we can connect in person? Just keenly feeling the need to say hi and thank you! xo k-
