January roses

Holding their pretty heads up innocently
these roses are pure and simple.

From precious new little bud,

To graceful withered old beauty.

  1. Roses in January? That's just not fair! Remember the quote?: "God gave us memory so we could have roses in December."

    I add, "January too!"

  2. I love your description of the rose past its prime as a withered beauty. Very elegant.

I have a few tiny buds that manage to stand up to the cold and lack of sun here but it really is time for me to prune the bushes back. I think this weekend is that time.

  10. I didn't know you had this blog too Gemma. Wow, I've been missing out on your posts. Darn!! :) I'm going to add you to my blog list right away and later this evening backtrack on this blog. Thank you for letting me know about the book Lacuna. I looked it up and it sounds like I would like to read that, so I will keep it in mind. Have a great weekend.
