from my sketchbook and for a Virtual Paintout's visit to Boston: A red door.
A red door means "welcome."..
A while back I painted the front door to my home with a "redwood" stain, with the welcoming intention.
Supposedly Albert Einstein painted his front door red
because he couldn't recognize his house without it.

Doors and windows...open or closed.

I love doors, when I was a kid our door was painted red. I guess we were in good company. Yours is beautifully drawn...
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful entryway, Gemma!
ReplyDeleteDoors always interest me....old ones, unique ones, glass ones, and painted ones. They seem to be promising something wonderful just on the other side. I love your red door painting!
ReplyDeleteI love doors in the color red. I'm hoping to paint my doors a bright color once we change doors. I would love to keep the ones we have because they are old and have glass panes from top to bottom, but husband says doors are just too old. Great painting and as Lisa says, doors are very meaningful. Take care.
